Mr. Daren Cenac joined SLASPA in 1999 as the Mechanical Engineer. In 2005 he was appointed as the Senior Engineer within the Engineering Department where he is credited for a number of successful initiatives including being actively involved in developing SLASPA's Electricity Conservation Plan, upgrading of airport and seaport equipment to meet regulatory standards as well as the portrayal of the technical section as a very competent and professional unit.
Prior to joining SLASPA and pursuing his studies, he was employed at the Sustainable Development Section in the then Ministry of Planning, Physical Development and the Environment. Mr. Cenac holds a Masters in Business Administration with a specialization in Project Management from Henley Business School at the University of Reading (UK) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus of Trinidad and Tobago. He is a locally Registered Engineer, has also attained Chartered Status which means he is registered with the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom, is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is an Associate Member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers of the USA. In his role as Senior Engineer, Mr. Cenac is responsible for the management of the preventive
maintenance of all mechanical and electrical systems at SLASPA; oversees all technical operations; ensures the efficient and effective implementation of the mechanical and electrical components of projects through the entire project executive cycle; designs systems to reduce and manages SLASPA's electricity use; acts as consulting engineer for SLASPA; directly supervises almost twenty employees and provides the necessary reports for management.
