New Security Measures

SLASPA Advises of Longer Departure Processing Time, Due to New U.S Security Screening

Effective July 19, the United States Department of Homeland Security implemented a new security screening regime for passengers destined for the US. Saint Lucia is amongst the countries globally that will be impacted by this new security measure.

The (SLASPA) therefore wishes to advise passengers traveling to the US that due to this additional screening process, it is expected that more time will be required for processing departing passengers. SLASPA, as the air ports operator, recommends that passengers arrive at the Hewanorra International Airport three hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

Some of the expected security measures include, but are not limited to, an increase in the overall passenger screening process; extensive screening of personal electronic devices such as tablets, laptops and computers; and an increase in random passenger screening.

These security measures are intended to enhance the overall safety and security of passengers and airport operations.

SLASPA would like to thank all aviation stakeholders and the traveling public for their understanding and cooperation.
